Ellen Carmody's parents were Daniel Carmody (1782-1851) and Mary Lorigan (1785-1865) left Irelland in 1851 on The Emperor. On board were her brother John and his wife (Bridget Considine), Michael and his wife (Margaret Markham) and Martin's sister Bridget.
Ellen married Patrick O'Hearn who had left County Clare as an eleven year-old in 1841 on the Eleanor. Ellen and patrick had nine children in New South Wales: Bridget, Mary Anne, Daniel, John Patrick (1857-1858), John Patrick (1862-1937), Elizabeth, Ellen, Johanna and Margaret. Ellen died in 1898
