James married Catherine Flynn (Flinn) at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Ferbane Kings County (Offaly) on 30 May 1827. 8 children were born of the marriage, all in Ferbane. The older two girls - Mary and Ann migrated to Australia in 1854. They travelled on the "China" arriving in Sydney in September 1854.  The rest of the family travelled on the "Commodore Perry" arriving in Sydney on 1 May 1856.

  • Do you have any more information on this family? Some dates and ages on various official documents don't add up eg James and Catherine ages were recorded as 47 and 48 on passenger lists in 1856 which would mean that they were born in 1808 and 1809 however on their death certificates they were James 82 (Feb 1882) and Catherine 85 (Feb 1880).
