James Rusk, my 2x great grandfather, married Ellen Malley (Melia) on 4 Mar 1859 in Aughaval Parish, Westport area, Co. Mayo. The record of their marriage in the Catholic Parish Register is the earliest documentation I have for either of them (so far). Also from the Catholic Parish Register, Aughaval: the baptism of their first daughter, Maryann, in Jan 1860.

Sometime within the next couple of years they moved - out of necessity, no doubt - to Liverpool, England. The next record I have found for the family is for the baptism of another daughter, Agnes, in Jul 1864 at St. Albans Church, from the Liverpool, England, Catholic Baptisms index.

In Liverpool, residing on Milford Street and later on Beacon Street, James and Ellen went on to raise eight children total (that we know of). Baptism records exist for them all. Based on the scant records I have found, I have inferred that James's parents were probably John Rusk and Sarah Fallon of County Mayo, Ireland, and from there have found five likely siblings for James as well.

James Rusk's death in Dec 1879 is documented in Liverpool civil and Catholic records. He was buried in the Ford Catholic Cemetery in Liverpool, in a section which evidently has no headstones. I have yet to find a record of his wife Ellen's death or burial.
