James Walsh from Gowran in Kilkenny died in Sydney, Australia in 1857, his brother Nicholas Walsh was the informant on his death certificate. He listed their parents as James Walsh and Eleanor Hennessy from Kilkenny Ireland. James Jnr, James Snr and Nicholas were all carpenters. Unfortunately I cannot find a baptism record for a James listed with these parents. There is however a baptism record for a Nicholas Walsh born to James Walsh and Eleanor Hennessy in Gowran, Kilkenny in 1814. There are quite a number of trees on Ancestry with this family listed (minus my James) however they have Nicholas living in Louisiana, USA...whereas I have found records for James' brother Nicholas living in Sydney in the years preceding and after James' death.
James married Bridget Heffernan in Gowran, Kilkenny in May 1847, they had a son James. The family immigrated to Sydney, NSW, Australia aboard the Hyderabad in 1848. There they had three more children, Mathew, Maria and Catherine, their son James died as an infant sometime before his father's death as he is listed as deceased on James' death certificate. I have been unable to find any records relating to James in Australia apart from the birth records of his three Australian born children and his address in 1855 - 256 Liverpool Street, Sydney, his brother Nicholas is listed as living next door in 258 Liverpool St (listed in City of Sydney archives - Assessment Notices). I have been unable to find any other information relating to Nicholas in Australian records and have not found his immigration record).
