Place of migration
Migrated to/Born in UK

John was the second child and second son of Patrick and Ellen Corrigan.  John was born about 1825.  John’s records only show his place of birth as Ireland but documents available for three of his brothers show they were born in Cloone and brother Patrick specifically Ainscairt. Therefore it is not unreasonable to conclude that John was born in Cloone. John is my x3 great uncle.

John migrated to Louth, Lincolnshire, England with his parents and siblings about 1849 - 1850.  His father Patrick died in 1850 and is buried in Louth England and his mother died in 1858 also buried in Louth England.

John married Margaret Crowley from County Mayo, Ireland at Louth, Lincolnshire on 24 Oct 1853.  John worked as a Labourer.  John and Margaret had one son Peter before John died aged 31 in June 1856.  John is buried in London Road Cemetery, Louth, England. His son Peter went on to work on the docks at Grimsby before moving to Wallsend Northumberland where he married Alice Barker.  They went on to have six children Sarah Jane, James, Thomas, Margaret, Ellen and Catherine.

Most of his ancestors still live in the Northumberland area.  An alternative spelling for Corrigan is Corigan.
