John L. McMahon was born in County Clare and emigrated to Tecumseth, Simcoe, Upper Canada and later to Grand Forks, North Dakota. I am still searching for the names of his parents and the exact parish/townland that they came from in Ireland. He was born in late 1821 or early 1822. His family may have emigrated in the 1830's. I believe he had 2 siblings born in Canada: Esther (1831) and Francis (1833). He also may have had other siblings, Thomas, Mary (1822) and Patrick, who were born earlier than Esther and Francis.
