Margaret was born on 19 Jul 1825 in the Townland of Moyagoney, Parish of Kilrea, and baptised 1st Presbyterian Church Kilrea on 20 August 1825. Her parents were Robert McCausland and Mary Patterson (marriage date unknown). Margaret came to Australia in 1850, married Joseph Elliott born about 1832 Belfast, Ireland, and died in Sydney 1869.
Robert was a weaver before he joined the military in 1800 and a Robert McCausland appears on the Flax Growers List of 1797.
