Place of migration
Migrated to/Born in UK

Mary Ann Corrigan was the youngest child and only daughter of Patrick and Ellen Corrigan. Mary Ann born about 1835.  There are no records stating where in Ireland she was born, but most of her brothers have records stating that they were from Cloone do it is reasonable to conclude that Mary was born in Cloone too. Mary is my x3 aunt.

Mary migrated to Louth, Lincolnshire England with her parents and brothers Patrick, John, James, Nicholas and Peter about 1849 - 1850. Her father Patrick died in 1850 and is buried in Louth England and her mother died in 1858 in Louth England.  The family were a Catholic family.  Her brothers all working as labourers and her father noted on marriage certificates as either working with horses or agricultural labouring.

Mary’s early working life was that of a washer woman.  She married Thomas Murphy in Oct 1853 at Louth England (Thomas likely to be of Irish descent, his father was John Murphy but nothing more known.)

Mary and Thomas had two daughters Ellen and Elizabeth. Thomas worked as a Labourer. Mary died aged 22 in 1857. Nothing more is known of Elizabeth, but Ellen married Thomas Shannon from County Mayo in Oct 1874 at Bradford Yorkshire where she worked as a silk winder and her husband a labourer.  They had two children Catherine and John before disappearing into history.

Alternative spelling of Corrigan is Corigan or Coreagan
