Migrated to/Born in New Zealand

Mary Brogan was born in Beltany, a Townland just outside the current town of Omagh in Co Tyrone, Northern Ireland. She was baptised at St Mary's Church, built in 1820. Her parents were Bernard Brogan (1812-1874) and Mary McNamee (1811-?). She had at least two siblings - James (11 Aug 1844 - ?) and Thomas (13 Jul 1854 - ?) but I have no knowledge of them other then their birth and there may have been other siblings..

Mary Brogan left Belfast on 04 Nov 1875 Mary Brogan on the `Conflict’ and sailed from Scilly.  She arrived in Christchurch, New Zealand on 29 January 1876.

On 13 July 1877 she married Valentine Henry Blake in Christchurch.  She had three children: Celestine Mirian (Celeste)(1878–1944), Margaret Mary (1879-1960) (my great-grandmother) and Valentine Joseph Christopher (1824-1899).  She died in Christchurch on 17 January 1927. She was remembered fondly by her grandson who she took in when he was a teenager.
