Migrated to/Born in New Zealand

Mary McMullin (also spelt MuMullan, McMullen) emigrated to New Zealand on the ship Janet Court which left Glasgow on 25 Feb 1874 and arrived at Port Chalmers, NZ on 29 March 1874.

She was listed as a single woman aged 18, from Antrim. There was no one else with the same surname on that ship.

She married Henry Nesbitt in 1876 and they had three children: Josephine Caroline, Mary, and William. Mary gave her place of birth as Slievebane on the birth registration info for her children.

She died in New Zealand aged 77 in 1935. Her age then was given as 77, which would mean she was born in 1858 (and would have been 16 when she emigrated, not 18)

She told her grand-daughter, my own grandmother, that she was from Ballycastle.
