Michael Derum was born about 1823 in Tipperary. Michael immigrated to Australia. He settled in Nagambie, Victoria, Australia, where he had farming land. He married Anna Maria Fox, on 4th October,1859 at St Francis Catholic Church, Melbourne. Anna was born in Kings County and her parents were William Fox, a Farmer and Margaret Costello. His father was also Michael Derum, who died on 20th June 1856, and was buried at Mucklagh on 23rd June 1856. He was married. I do not know her name but she died abt. 1867. They had several children - James, John, Michael, Margaret, Kate & Joseph. (Also possibly Eliza, Jane and Edward). Michael worked as a gardener at Charleville Castle. I have newspaper cuttings of his winning prizes in gardening shows.
