Nancy Ann Lees : Short Biography

My gggrandmother, Nancy Ann Lees, was born in Tullyraw, Artrea, Middle or Upper Dungannon, County Tyrone, in 1827. Her father was William Lees, born about 1789. His last name may have been spelled Leathes, then Leas, then Lees. Nancy emigrated to the U.S. through New York, arriving in 1851. She married Robert Allen, who had preceded her to the U.S. from Ireland. He was born around 1818, possibly in Ulster, and emigrated in 1850. They settled in St. Charles, Illinois, where they had one child, William Allen. Nancy had 3 siblings who also settled in the St. Charles area - Samuel Lee (born 1843), Silas Lees (born 1837) and Margaret Lees Warford (born 1830). Margaret went on to live in Sycamore with her husband John Warford.
