This is Owen McDermott, our 3 x great grandfather born c 1799 in Ireland, and married Elizabeth Foy (Fay) at St Pauls, Arans Quay Dublin on 15 May 1821.  

Owen is found on the 1841 census in London living at Salamanca Place with his wife and growing family. 9 children twins Ann & Matthew born 1826, Eleanor c1827. Thomas c1829, Catherine c1832,  Edward c1840 - bef 1851, John c 1843- bef 1851. Henry Charles c1844. 

Using the 1851 census, it is possible to ascertain that the family moved from Ireland to London after their marriage in 1821 but before the birth of their daughter Catherine in 1832. On the 1841 census, Owens occupation is described as Labourer, but he died in 1846, leaving his widow Elizabeth well cared for, on 1851, 1871 census' she is noted as Living on Private means. Sadly by 1881, she is found on the census in Lambeth Workhouse, Renfrew Road, Lower Kennington Lane, London. Her location of birth is recorded as Cavan County Cavan.  

Elizabeth died in the 2ndQ. 1886 in Lambeth London
