Migrated to/Born in UK

Patrick Corrigan was the eldest son of Patrick and Ellen Corrigan born about 1822 .  Patrick is my x3 great uncle.  He emigrated to Louth, Lincolnshire, England around 1849 - 1850.  His father also Patrick died in Louth England in 1850 and his mother Ellen died in Louth England in 1858 and she is buried at London Road Cemetery.  The family were a Catholic family.

Patrick’s younger siblings were John, James, Nicholas, Peter and Mary.

Patrick married an English woman Hannah Chapman in 1863.  They had 12 children Mary Ann, John, Ellen, Jane, Peter, Mary, James, Michael, Hannah, Patrick, Thomas and Sarah Ann. In descending age order. 5 of their children died in Infancy.  Patrick’s 1871 Census shows his date of birth as Anscairt Ireland. Patrick worked throughout his life mainly as an agricultural labourer, but was also a hawker for a short while in 1851.

Patrick and Hannah moved from Louth England to Caistor, Lincolnshire, England before moving to Grimsby.  Patrick died in December 1889 and although the date of his burial is known the location is only documented as Lincolnshire on 11 Dec 1889.

Patrick’s children went on to work either on fishing trawlers out of Grimsby or dock work.  Some of those choosing to take up dock work moved to Tynemouth for work. His ancestors still mainly live around Grimsby or Tynemouth.
