Born about 1820 in Derry, Ireland. Migrated to Canada in 1830 at the age of 10 (census data). Married John McBeath (born about 1818 in Derry, Ireland, died during the 1870s in St John's New Brunswick, Canada) in New Brunswick about 1838; they had 12 children: William, Mary Jane, Margaret, John Jr., Margery, Eleanor, Sarah, Andrew, Joseph, Charles, Elizabeth and Francis. The family were tenant farmers in the Petersville area (now Gagetown Military Base). Died in St John's City, New Brunswick in 1892. She is buried in St Jospeh's Catholic cemetary with two of her daughters. Although both she and John were listed as Anglicans on various censuses, it appears they converted to Catholism.
