Left Tipperary, Tipperary aged 17 in 1849 from the Tipperay town workhouse, having been born in Nenagh, Tipperary to parents John Bennett, a farmer, and Mary Anne Gleeson. Sailed from Plymouth to Melbourne, Australia as an "orphan" girl on the ship Pemberton. In Australia she married twice, to Scottish-born James Hamilton and English-born William Godbold, and died on the Australian goldfields at Smythesdale, Victoria.
