Sarah Jane is the daughter of John Leslie (originally of Dree, Co Down) and Margaret Harper (originally of Ballyvicknacally, Co Down) my 2nd great grandparents. Her siblings (all born at Annaduff) were Robert (who did not survive), James Henry d1935, William m Elizabeth?, John b1852. They lived in a cottage at  Mullawn, Annaduff.  In 1874, Sarah (aged 19) and her brother John (aged 21) emigrated to New Zealand on the "Carnatic" from London. They arrived in Picton, at the top of the South Island of New Zealand on 10th January 1875. John married Sarah Blick of Springs Creek on 22 November 1878 in Blenheim, Sarah Jane married Charles Sutton (1856-1930) on 18 August 1879 at Glenwood, Springs Creek. They later moved to the North Island and farmed at Waihi in the Bay of Plenty. Sarah died there in 1929 and she and Thomas are both buried in the Waihi Cemetery. They had six sons and three daughters and have numerous descendants throughout New Zealand.
