Hello

My name is Shiobán I was born in Canada and lived in the UK for 10 years before settling in the eastern USA. I have been interested in Genealogy since my teens and have traced one branch of my family the Eacrett's back to Ballybrittas, Lea Parish. I was very excited to find this site hoping to learn more about County Laois and Kildare as this is the part of Ireland my family is from. My Great Grandfather was from County Kildare, but only know roughly the year he was born, so having trouble tracing him. All being well I hope to make a trip and explore some of this are in person next year.

I know Lea parish only has a few members, but would like to say Hello to all !

    Hello again!

I added your prior message to this post for background. You may want to edit your subject line to add O'Brien/Eacret so that others who might search on the surname will see your message.

  • The entries for Lea Civil parish and the town of Ballybrittas in Lewis' Topographical Dictionary of 1837 (LibraryIreland) may be of interest....

p.s. I suspect that your Eacret line were possibly of French Huguenot descent, so would probably be worth checking the nearby 'French Church' in Portarlington for possible leads on them.
