Samuel Smart was born Jan 1, 1797 in Cavan Ireland. In 1825 he married Martha Porter, also born in Cavan. They lived in Co. Down Parish Seapatrick. They had the children Jane, Hugh, Margaret, Thomas, Sarah (and possibly Samuel and Mary). In approximately 1846 they travelled to Canada. They settled in Durham, Ontario where Martha passed in 1851 and Samuel passed in 1871.
