Michael Moran was born about 1800, probably in County Roscommon, and married Bridget Ellen Keogh about 1834. Their first two children, Bridget and Mary, were baptized in the church in Kiltoom. The family resided in Coolagarry.

We know the family emigrated to western Massachusetts in 1839 from Michael’s naturalization record, arriving in New York and moving on to New Marlborough near Stockbridge. Michael could not read or write and farmed 100 acres of land which he owned. He and Bridget had five more children after arriving in Massachusetts: John, James, Ann Elizabeth, Ellen, and William.

Michael died in 1885 and his death record stated he was 89, which would mean he was born in 1796. His wife, Bridget, died in 1889, age 72.

Mary Moran, the second oldest daughter, married Peter Blow (Pierre Bleau), a French Canadian. They were my 2nd great grandparents. William Moran, the youngest, married Honora “Nora” Sullivan, my great grandmother, Elizabeth Sullivan’s, sister. To make it even more convoluted, Elizabeth Sullivan married Frank Blowe, the son of Mary Moran and Peter Blow.
