Edward Galvin was born about 1821. (According to the 1901 census he was then 80.) He married Bridget Gilligan circa 1864. They had six children.

Bridget and Margaret emigrated to Australia in 1887.

In 1901 in the parish of Lemanaghan townland of Castlereagh Edward Galvin, an 80 year old farmer, was the head of the house. His wife Bridget was 62 and their children Martin Galvin 26, Ellen Galvin 22 and Joseph Galvin 20 were resident with him. They occupied a second-class house made of stone, brick or concrete with a roof of thatch or wood; it had three rooms and three front windows. The out-offices consisted of a stable, cow house, calf house, piggery and shed. Elizabeth Galvin is not listed in the household.

Edward and Bridget were deceased by 1911 census. In the parish of Lemanaghan townland of Castlereagh, Martin Galvin, a 38 year old farmer, was head of the house. He and his siblings, Ellen 33 and Joseph 31 were resident in the same second-class house as listed in the 1901 census. The only difference is the absence of the calf house and the addition of a fowl house.
