  • I have found a baptism for a John Clynch in  Kelsha Rathvilly on 25th November 1924.

Parents  William Clynch and Bridget Byrne. As John named his first child William , after the paternal Grandfather , which would follow the Irish naming pattern of that time it is possible

this baptism refers to the subject of your enquiry. I hope this is helpful.

  • Eamonn, thank you for keeping an eye out for records but 1924 is too recent for my ancestor, John.

  • Can I make another suggestion. There were about two or three Malone families in Kilbride around the period you refer to. Kilbride was served by the churches  in Kildavin and  Clonegal.

Ballypierce is very close to Kildavin and Kilbride. The marriage would have taken place in the bride's parish so the records would be in Clonegal. I will see if I can turn up anything on Ellen Malone. The birth might also be registered in Tullow CVounty Carlow. Good luck with yor searches

  • Sorry , the birth I found in Kelsha Rathvilly was 1824 not 1924 as in previous message.

Father William Clinch  Mother Bridget Byrne    Witnesses Patrick Harney and Jane Jackson. As previously mentioned John named his first son William which would follow thw naming pattern of that time when the first male child was named after the paternal grandfather. You might try to follow this lead. Williams wife's maiden name Brne was very common in Rathvilly . My own great Grandmother was one of them

  • Eemonn,

There is an Edward Malone noted at time of the rebellion. He was a Yeoman. John Clynch's family were rebel organizers. Ellen/Elenor marries quite late in life if her birth year is actually 1809. Might she be daughter of Edward, and held off marriage to Clynch until after her father's death? Pure speculation on my part, I have no way of learning details of Edward's death from thousands of miles away.

Thank you for your efforts at sharing possible leads on John's family.
