At Toomevara, a most heartrending scene took place, when 600 individuals were dispossessed of their homes, in the midst of a dreadful storm of wind and rain (and no room at the workhouse for them).

The evicting landlord was a clergyman in the English Church, who resided partly in England and partly in Ireland.
