I can trace Catherine (born 1844) to Edmond McManus but can't find a birth or baptism that matches that date or father. Possibly Catherine Gaven is the mother but can't make a connection.
Catherine married Patrick Ward in 1866. Interestingly, Catherine's sister Rose (same problem tracing Rose beyond her father, Edmond) married Patrick's brother, Bartholomew and there were lots of double first cousins growing up
Catherine was my great grandmother and mother to my grandfather, Bartholomew Francis Ward. Papa emigrated at the turn of the twentieth century. He met and married my grandmother, Mary Agnes McTigue, in Waterbury, Connecticut and eventually settled in Boston, Massachusetts. They raised their ten children, the second of which is my mother, Rose Kathleen Ward Cosgrove.
