My great-great-great grandfather John Arnold , born in Newtownards, was a private in the 6th (Royal Warwickshire) regiment which sailed from Cork wth the Royal Irish Rifles, likely arriving in South Africa in 1847

Their son Edward Fisher Arnold, son of John and Susanna born 1 March 1866. Married to Martha Stevenson and father to Stanley Edward. Died 1923
