John Tyrrell was born in Dublin in 1852 to Peter Tyrrell and Margaret Shortall.  He was baptized at St. James', Dublin City Dublin, Ireland.

At some point John's mother died and John's father took the children to England.  His father Peter married Mary Redmond.

The family is in the 1871 Census living in Batley, Yorkshire, England.

John met Bridget Cassidy and they married on 2 June 1873 at St. Mary of the Angels Roman Catholic Church.  John and Bridget are in the 1881 Census with two of their own children and John's half-siblings.  (Both Peter Tyrrell and Mary Redmond died and John took in some of their children.)

John and Bridget arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 2 November 1886 with their four children (Ann, John, James, Mary Eva) and John's half-sibling William.

John and Bridget settled in the East Falls section of Philadelphia where they lived for the remainder of their lives.

John and Bridget had 14 children, but only 7 lived to adulthood.  Their youngest, Frances, is my maternal grandmother.

John died 24 November 1946.
