Timothy McCarthy was born c/a 1818 in SW Cork county. He was living in New York city by 1845, married to a woman with forename Jemima. He had 3 children by Jemima Dennis 1845, John 1847, Johanna (1850). Around 1852 Jemime died and in 1853 he married Eliza Smith, possibly from Tipperary. He was a Tailor in new York. The susbsquently lived in Cincinnati where he was an undertaker and rented hacks. They then moved to St Louis where he was again a tailor.
