My third great grandfather was a convict sent to Australia. He was tried for Uttering forged notes in 1802. He was sentenced to death but was sent to Australia after being held in Cork Gaol.

A pioneer register in Appin, New South Wales, Australia gives the following information:

MAHON(E)Y William b. c1760 Clonmell COR IRL, Arr: 12-5-1803 Rollo Convict, Rel: RC,

I am trying to find out more about him, as his ancestry and history are unknown to me. Perhaps there are newspaper articles about his trial? Maybe someone can assist in finding out if there is any church records on his birth or any marriage he may have had.
