An Island Community: The Ebb and Flow of the Great Blasket Island is a voluminous social history of the abandoned Great Blasket Island, off the wild south west coast of Ireland, which touches on its history, culture and folklore.

Minister for the Diaspora Jimmy Deenihan, chief executive of Irish in Britain Jennie McShannon, and Minister for Foreign Affairs Charlie Flanagan at Dublin Castle this week.

Liam Mellows (1895-1922) was an Irish Republican and Sinn Fein politician.  He was born in England, but grew up in County Wexford.  He was involved in nationalist politics from a young age and he was active in the Irish Republican Brotherhood and a Founding member of the Irish Volunteers.
