Even Croghan village was not spared from the Asiatic Cholera Pandemic of 1832...

Roscommon & Leitrim Gazette - Saturday 27 April 1833

[page 3]

On Monday night last a most disgraceful transaction took place at Croghan, within about four miles of this town : it appears that about six months since a few cases of cholera, which occurred at Croghan, proved fatal, and the bodies of the victims were buried in their blanketsand now after such a period having elapsed, and when the fear of the epidemic was removed from their minds, some hardened and fearless wretches disinterred the mouldering bodies, and took from about them the blankets which served as a shrouding. The bodies were afterwards interred in the neighbouring church yard.
