Martin Cain (born 1833) left Ireland for the United States in 1846 with his mother, Mary Ellen Littleton, and siblings Micheal, Patrick, Thomas, and Ellen. His mother, Mary Ellen Littleton Cain, died en route the USA and was buried at sea.
The family eventually reunited with their father Martin (who had immigrated earlier to raise money to send for them) and, after a few years, eventually settled in Meeme, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin.
Martin married Bridget Foran in Wisconsin and had a large family with many descendants in the USA.
