My father's maternal grandfather was William Ryan.  Most likely born in Thurles Co Tipp in about 1847, and died in Ballyculleen, Bangoue, Croom Limerick.  He married Catherine (Maher born 1852 in Croom) July 16, 1882 in Banogue. Together they had a family of 7 children.  William (1881) Jacka (1883), Nellie (1885) Nora (1887) James (1889) Mary (1891) and Catherine (1895) all in Croom.

I am desperately laser focused on confirmation the information of the parents William and Catherine Ryan.  I think William's parents were from Thurles Co Tipperary, but not certain.

  • Hi There

My ggreatmother was Catherine Ryan 1785-1846 who married Paddy Quain from Ballymacstradeen, ( which is only the next townland to Ballycolleen) in 1799 and had at least five children (can only trace the boys but it is assumed that there was as many girls). One of the boys the second youngest moved to Creggane, Colmanswell in 1839 and had ten children and that is where we come in 200 years later.
